The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) on January 02, 2025, issued a circular regarding revised guidelines to be followed for checking the adequacy of RO and RMS in the ZLD system by the Industrial sector units having Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) system.
The following has been stated: -
•The Pollution Control Board has issued guidelines to ensure uniform monitoring of Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Reject Management Systems (RMS) in Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) units, particularly in textile and other industries.
•These guidelines, finalized after a technical meeting on December 30, 2024, help officials assess the adequacy and efficiency of RO and RMS systems.
•All engineers must use the prescribed ZLD adequacy check slips during inspections and submit reports regularly.
•The guidelines are indicative and will be updated periodically with technological advancements.
